The trade show featured over 25,000 visitors from 150 countries, as Dr. Rashed Bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and Water, inaugurated this year’s event. SPF Precut Lumber Showcased at Exports Insights’ India Session – March 10, 2011SURREY, BC – At the Exports Insights’ India Session at the Sheraton Guildford in Surrey, BC, Mo Amir of SPF Precut Lumber was invited to share the opportunities, challenges, and successes of SPF Precut Lumber’s experience in exporting to India. Showcasing local Canadian companies for their export experience in particular markets, the Exports Insights sessions are a series of seminars hosted by the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) in partnership with The Government of British Columbia, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (Government of Canada), and Export Development Canada. Joining Mo on the discussion panel were Mario Ste. Marie, Senior Trade Commissioner, Embassy of Canada in New Delhi, India; Karim Kassam, Director of Corporate and Business Development, of Ballard Power Systems; and Mervyn Pinto, President and CEO, of Minaean International Corporation. With valuable advice and knowledge for exporters looking to develop the Indian market, Mo Amir shared the case study of SPF Precut Lumber’s journey from making connections in India to developing the partnerships that has made India one of the company’s most important markets, with large, weekly exports of Canadian softwood to this emerging economy. |

SPF Precut Lumber Exhibits at the 14th Annual Seoul Housing + Deco Fair – February 9-13, 2011SEOUL, KOREA – SPF Precut Lumber attended and exhibited a display booth at the 14th Annual Seoul Housing + Deco Fair (HOMDEX) at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul, South Korea, as part of a BC Wood delegation. HOMDEX is the best international building expo in Korea, bringing together the most comprehensive array of products, equipment, and services in Korea. The Canadian Manufacturers Pavilion, as organized by BC Wood, housed the exhibition of several Canadian companies promoting a range of BC wood products – including softwood lumber, Western Red Cedar products and OSB – all for export to the Korean market. Mo Amir and Fareed Amir attended the event to represent SPF Precut Lumber, meeting with Korean importers and end-users of Canadian softwood lumber. The event was a success! Over the course of the trade show, Mo and Fareed met a wide-array of Korean business people as SPF Precut Lumber continues to develop this market within an export portfolio that already boasts fifteen countries around the world. |
