10th Annual Dubai Wood Show – April 14-16 2015

DUBAI, UAE – At the 10th annual Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show (Dubai Wood Show), SPF Precut Lumber exhibited with a big splash, fresh off the heels of hosting an innovative Canadian Softwood Lumber Grading Seminar in Dubai. This regional landmark event for wood trade and investment at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Dubai World Trade Centre) in the United Arab Emirates attracted over 8,000 professionals representing 95 countries and 500 companies across the globe.

His Excellency, Engr. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality opened the tradeshow, with many foreign dignitaries in attendance for the opening ceremony. Later, in his tour of the tradeshow floor, His Excellency personally met with the SPF Precut Lumber team, which had the distinct honour of being the only Canadian company at the Dubai Wood Show given the opportunity to speak with His Excellency.

As an international ambassador for Canadian softwood lumber, SPF Precut Lumber boasted the largest exhibition space out of all Canadian companies, as SPF Precut Lumber also commemorated its 25th Year Anniversary. In 2014, SPF Precut Lumber enjoyed a 57% market share of all Canadian softwood lumber exported to the Middle East, including a 70% market share of all British Columbian softwood lumber exported to the Middle East, as per Stats Canada figures. This dominant market leadership is the result of longstanding investment and partnerships committed by SPF Precut Lumber in the Gulf Region since 1990.

SPF Precut Lumber President, Muhammad Amir; Vice President of Sales, Fareed Amir; and General Manager, Mo Amir represented the company at the tradeshow, meeting various stakeholders and partners across the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent who attended the show. Stuart Sing, General Manager of Canadian Mill Services Association, also made himself available at the SPF Precut Lumber exhibition, as a follow-up to the Canadian Softwood Lumber Grading Seminar that SPF Precut Lumber had hosted prior to the Dubai Wood Show.

SPF Precut Lumber’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and Canadian Softwood Lumber Grading Seminar

DUBAI, UAE – On the eve of the Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show (Dubai Wood Show) 2015, SPF Precut Lumber celebrated its silver jubilee – its 25th anniversary – with its partners across the Middle East and South Asia at the Hotel Ramada Dubai. This invitation-only event was previewed in Khaleej Times.

To celebrate the milestone and appreciate its partners throughout the Gulf Region, SPF Precut Lumber hosted a Canadian Softwood Lumber Grading Seminar and Anniversary Celebration. With attendance exceeding expectation and attendees collectively representing ten countries amongst fifty companies, the event was successful and well-received.

In 2013, SPF Precut Lumber hosted the first-ever Canadian lumber grading seminar held in the Gulf region. The company renewed the seminar this year to provide end-users in the Middle East with more tools and knowledge to make better lumber purchasing decisions and optimize their own operations.

Stuart Sing, General Manager of Canadian Mill Services Association, reprised his role as the “Canadian lumber grading guru” as he taught the basics of Canadian softwood lumber grading to the attentive audience of Canadian softwood importers. Mr. Sing covered theoretical and practical components of lumber grading for #2&BTR, #3, and Economy Grades. His straight-forward and interactive style was highly regarded by the attendees, who found him to be extremely educational and very entertaining.

Mo Amir, General Manager of SPF Precut Lumber, opened the event. He commemorated the long-term partnerships SPF Precut Lumber has forged in the Gulf Region since 1990 and briefly narrated the history of the company.

As evidence to SPF Precut Lumber’s dedication to the region, Mr. Amir noted the company’s success over the last year. In 2014, Canada exported 95.8‐million bft of softwood lumber to the Middle East. Of that 96-million bft, 78.34‐million bft was exported from British Columbia alone. In the same calendar year, SPF Precut Lumber exported approximately 55‐million bft to the Middle East from British Columbia, effectively giving the company a 57% market share of all Canadian softwood lumber to the Middle East, which includes a 70% market share of all BC softwood lumber exported to the Middle East.
